Thank you for taking the time to view our first grade website. Below you will find much of the important information about our first grade program, school activities and links to many of the forms you may need. On the front page is the contact information for each first grade teacher. More information will be added, so please check back here throughout the year.
Lunch/Breakfast
Eating lunch at school is exciting for the first graders. Students may bring a lunch from home or order a lunch at school. There is no charge for breakfast or lunch at school. There is a hot lunch and 2 cold lunch choices each day and students will order their lunch each morning. If your child is getting breakfast, please have him/her at school at 8:35.
Snack
First grade lunch begins at 11:55. This makes for a long morning and first graders often run out of energy. We ask for all first graders to bring a healthy snack to school each day. Healthy snacks include fruit, crackers, pretzels or 1/2 of a sandwich. If your child has a school breakfast, there is a snack included in the packet.
Homework
First graders will have 2 pieces of homework each night. Your child is expected to read 2 steps with an adult each night. 1 step = 15 minutes of reading. (Each first grader has 30 minutes of reading homework each night). This reading time can be reading the IRLA books we send home or practicing power words on the DVD or flashcards.
Your child will also have a math worksheet to complete most nights. This worksheet is a review of the skills that we have been working on in class and it should take 5 minutes. Your child should be able to complete this independently.
